Rehab Goals and Aspirations
Tracking progress against goals is very important for successful rehabilitation – helping motivate the client and also track progress for reporting.
In neumind we have the rehab goals and aspirations features. These are light touch features designed to help you get started without filling in too much information in one go.
Aspirations can be linked to rehab goals, and rehab goals can be linked to aspirations.
Rehab goals can also be linked to tasks, which are smaller pieces within the app. In future we plan to link more features to rehab goals, contact us to discuss or suggest what we could do.
Aspirations
Aspirations are very simple structures which are higher level than Rehab Goals. They have an “I want to”, or title, and an optional “because”, or motivation, field.
Aspirations can be linked to as many Rehab Goals as you like.
Aspirations can be created by the client themselves in the app, or by professionals in the dashboard.
As a client, to create an aspiration in the app tap on the menu in the top left and then on “My Goals”. You should see a screen like the one above. Tap “New aspiration” to create a new aspiration.
As a professional, you can create aspirations for clients via the dashboard, on the Client > Rehab Goals > Aspirations page.
You can also help guide a client through this process on their app, by tapping “Notify your client to create an aspiration on their device”.
You can associate an aspiration with a rehab goal by clicking on the aspiration, clicking on “Linked Rehab Goals”, and then tapping on “Link another Rehab Goal” (see screenshot below), finally tapping on “Link” on the rehab goal you wish to link. You can unlink them later if required using the actions menu, displayable by tapping on the three dots (...).
Rehab Goals
To manage a clients rehab goals you must be logged in to the neumind dashboard and linked to the client via a neumind group.
We designed the feature to only be used via the neumind dashboard because we believe that having a professional in the loop allows more realistic, motivational, and fulfilling goals to be created. We roughly follow the SMART goal structure but not rigidly.
Neumind Rehab Goals follow an adapted SMART goal structure. You must set a goal title, a start date, and a review date.
Rehab Goals can be broken down further by tasks, which are another neumind feature. This way you can track progress against Rehab Goals. You can associate as many tasks as you like with a rehab goal. You can create tasks when you create the rehab goal or at any time after. You can check when tasks were completed at a later date. By default, tasks are set to display until the review date of the goal.
You can associate a rehab goal with as many aspirations as you like.
You can colour code your rehab goal and the tasks will follow the same colour coding.
You can make a rehab goal appear on a clients’ home screen. This is set to “On” by default. This means that the home screen will display a Yellow box with a link to the rehab goals which you have set to appear on the clients’ home screen:
Tapping on the yellow box will open the second screenshot, giving the client an overview of the current goals:
The third screenshot shows tasks associated with goals, using the goal colour coding:
If the goal is less relevant, you can remove it from the home screen. If there are no goals set to appear on the home screen, the yellow box will not appear.
Archiving
You can archive rehab goals and aspirations. This means that they are not cluttering the client’s profile but they are accessible if required later.
The following is a video showing how to set up goals, aspirations and goal-related tasks:
